Has anyone had luck splitting training into 2-hour on-site blocks (say 7–9 a.m.) Agree on the timing — here’s what worked for us: we put a 7–9 a.m. training hold in Maximo, rotate two-person pairs through bucket rescue and rubber glove checks while the rest stage and knock out pre-job paperwork, then hard start switching at 9:15. It only works if you pre-stage tools the night before and code those 2 hours as field eval in the LMS, but it kept the day intact and we still cleared 24 CE by June 30.
Quick example: we create a recurring ‘training’ WO in Maximo for ‘7–9 a.m.’ at the yard so crews show partially unavailable and @Dispatch won’t load switching until 9:30, which keeps bucket rescue and rubber glove refreshers tight… Only caveat is we pre-stage the dummy and gear the night before or you lose 20 minutes — can you get @Dispatch to honor a 9:30 earliest-switch rule?
This drives me nuts too; what finally stuck was using Maximo labor calendars to set crews 50% available 7–9 a.m. and logging those hours under a ‘TRAIN-CE’ craft so @Dispatch’s auto-assigner won’t cram switching into that window. We also stagger by feeder — A/C on Mon–Wed, B/D on Tue–Thu — so you’re never short two full crews while chasing 24 by 6/30. Want me to share the calendar template?
We treat CE as a parent WO with 2‑hour child job plans and drop one per crew at the start of shift, then in Graphical Assignment we put a crew ‘hold’ for the first 90–120 minutes so @Schedulers’ optimizer won’t stack switching on top — like threading a neutral through a crowded alley arm. Do you have GA enabled or are you dispatching straight from Work Order Tracking?
