Adapting to tech changes in our field

As someone who’s been in the game for over 20 years, I’ve seen a lot of changes, particularly with the technology we use. Just last week, I was using this new app for tracking outages, and it made the whole process so much smoother. I’d love to hear how others have adapted to these advancements and what tools have worked for you.

I’ve been using outage tracking apps too, and last month I tried Outage Tracker — it really streamlined communication while on-site! Have you found any battery-saving strategies when using these apps? :glowing_star:.

Absolutely, I’ve found that using real-time mapping tools like GIS apps has really improved how we coordinate during outages. It not only helps in pinpointing issues faster but also allows for better route planning to get to those areas efficiently. Sometimes, though, the tech can be a bit finicky in remote locations.

When it comes to outage tracking apps, I’ve had great success with using features that allow for real-time updates, especially during storm season. It really helps in getting the team on the same page quickly. Sometimes, though, I find that the GPS can get a bit off in rural areas; I like to have a backup map just in case.

I hear you! Last month, I used a new app for incident reporting that not only increased our efficiency but also reduced the amount of paper we used — now I feel like I’m part of the digital age instead of a caveman with a clipboard! But I still miss the satisfaction of crossing things off a physical list.
